Two days to dive into the heart of this crazy, vibrant city? Get ready to be swept away by the colors, smells, and pure magic that Marrakech throws your way
Day 1: Experience Marrakech Magic
Touchdown, Marrakech! After getting our bags from the airport, we hopped into a cab and zoomed to Riad Kerdouss – our little oasis of calm amidst the madness. Shortly, we set out to experience the magic of Marrakech
The first stop was the Koutoubia Mosque. You can’t miss it – that minaret is HUGE and inspired architecture worldwide! Non-Muslims can’t go inside, but can they explore the gardens nearby
Next, the Saadian Tombs. Hidden away for centuries and recently rediscovered. The intricate patterns and colors are mind-blowing. Get there early or towards the closing hours to beat the crowds
We ended the day by visiting the Bahia Palace. One hundred sixty rooms, courtyards, gardens, this place is massive.
We wandered around, admiring the insane architectural details. So much history to unpack in this place! You can explore all of the section, from the courtyards with marble fountains to the small Riad
As evening fell, we headed to the Jemaa el-Fna. This square is something else! It transforms after dark with its bustling street market, food stalls, and lively local chatter. It’s touristy, sure, but a MUST-see for the full Marrakech experience
Day 2: Visiting the most iconic sites of Marrakech
Our 2nd day in Marrakech was filled with exploring two of Marrakech’s most captivating attractions: the serene Jardin Secret and the historic Ben Youssef Madrasa.
Jardins Secret: Our first stop was the Jardin Secret, nestled in the heart of the Medina, within the charming Mouassine quarter. This 16th-century oasis is a masterpiece of floral and architectural design, offering a tranquil escape from the city’s chaos.
As we wandered through the gardens, we discovered two distinct spaces: the exotic garden, filled with plants from around the world, and the Islamic garden, adorned with fragrant orange trees and intricate mosaics
Ben Youssef Madrasa: Next, we made our way to the Ben Youssef Madrasa, one of Marrakech’s most iconic historical sites. This stunning madrasa, built during the Saadian dynasty, is renowned for its exquisite architecture and rich history.
In fact, it is the largest Madrasa in all of Morocco. As we explored the complex, we marveled at the intricate zellij tiles, carved cedar wood, and the beautifully designed courtyard
Marrakech is a perfect blend of history, culture, and relaxation, showcasing the city’s unique charm and allure. Whether you’re a history enthusiast or simply a wanderer, Marrakech has something for everyone
